I Voted

By Brian Gotter

I voted this morning since I will be busy all day next Tuesday with work and weather talks..it was awesome.  I stopped in on my way to work and it took less than 2 minutes.  Easy...no lines.  I will vote like this from now on.

I can't believe it is almost over...the campaign that it.  Almost two years of daily coverage.  It does amaze me how much the media covers the campaigns considering we have the lowest voter turn out of any voting country.  That should be a hot topic on our 3pm newscast:  Why do we put so much effort and money covering the campaigns when people don't vote?

I am ashamed to admit this, but I almost did not vote this year.  I Grandpa, an Army General, would roll over in his grave if I did not vote.  I have always disliked politics and that dislike has turned up a few notches over the past few years and during this campaign.  It is ugly and I am so tired of politicians and all the slander and negative ads.  What a way to build morale in this country than to rip everyone apart and divide the country even more.  They tell you what you want to hear..they lie.  Every candidate promises lower taxes, but they keep going up.  Every candidate promises better health care and will fix the problems, but nothing gets done and most get worse.  It disgusts me that they get their salary and free health care for life.  What a sweet deal...I wonder who voted on that...oh yeah, they did.

They are all hypocrites that turn each others words around to make the other look bad...and we are voting for this person to be President and be honest with us.  Now that is a joke.  I do not consider myself a Republican or a Democrat, but I vote for the candidate I think is best...this year is tough.  I am disappointed with both guys.  This election has been labeled the most important in a generation..and these are our choices!  I wish we could start over..get rid of everyone in Washington and start from scratch.   All the slander can be fun at times.  I laugh at Democrats when they make fun of Republicans spending so much on Palin's clothes and all of McCain's homes.  If I recall, John Kerry had multiple homes as well..but that was OK 4 years ago.  I guarantee Obama's and McCain's suits are thousands of dollars...but you never hear about that.  What about the gift baskets celebrities get for 2 minutes of representing an award at the Oscar's?  They are worth more than $100,000...talk about waste.  Speaking of waste...how does Obama show a 30 minute infomercial last night that cost him $7 million to air on 7 networks and say he understands the pain that people are going through.  He would have been smarter donating that money.  Just a thought.  McCain has been sleazy the past few weeks..typical for a campaign and it just turns me away from the whole election process.  I respected McCain for his service to his country since my Grandpa was in the Army for 40 plus years, but this campaign has tarnished his image.

It was a tough decision and I guarantee we will be talking about the same problems 4 years from now.

My Father-in-law and his friends got a little creative and sent me this link.  They want me to run for President.  I am flattered, but no thanks.  I get enough grief being a meteorologist.  No thank you!
