Welcome Back, GotterMinnesota VisitorsBy Brian GotterOur great friends Jason, Melissa and their 2-year old sweetie, Emily, came to visit us this weekend. They were our old neighbors in Minnesota and we miss them so much. We get together a few times a year since we moved to Milwaukee and we always have so much fun. They arrived Friday night and Ali could not wait to see Emily. We ordered pizzas and caught up for a few hours. Melissa is pregnant and Tina had a long week of work so they were ready to go to bed shortly after the girls went to bed. Jason and I decided to go out to get a beer and talk...guy time. Saturday morning we took the kids to the new park in Port Washington. It was chilly, but the sun felt great and the kids could have cared less. After their naps, we dressed Ali and Emily up in their costumes and went to the zoo for Boo at the Zoo. The girls got some candy but loved seeing all the animals and all the other kids in their costumes. In fact, I think Ali was doing more people watching then looking at animals. She has seen them before, but she loved all the kids and their costumes. After the zoo, we got a babysitter and Tina and I took Jason and Melissa to Mimma's Cafe for some delicious Italian cuisine. It was beyond delicious! Sunday was a relaxing day of playing in the yard and getting ready for trick or treating and constantly looking at the thermometer. We hit 54 yesterday before noon and then the front arrived and it got cold and windy. Temps dropped into the low 40s and winds howled between 35 and 50mph. The kids did not care, but parents did. By the time we finished at 6pm, it was 38 and there were flurries. Good times! After dinner Tina had to leave for Chicago..she had a 6:30am meeting..who has meetings at that time of day? It seems like she has been living in Chicago lately, but this should be the last trip for awhile. Jason, Melissa and Emily left this morning before Ali and I went to school and work. It was a wonderful weekend with our friends and we miss them already! We will see them soon on our trip to Minnesota in the next few months. |
