Welcome Back, GotterWeather Pattern ChangesBy Brian GotterWhat a beautiful first week of fall we had last in SE Wisconsin with sunshine, low humidity and highs about 10 degrees above normal. Remember, the normal high for last week was 69 and it drops to 67 today. As we always say, there is rarely normal or average weather, but a flip flop from extremes. That is true for this upcoming week. After last weeks highs in the 70s and 80s, this week will be a reality check with highs in the 60s and possibly upper 50s.
Weather changes on a daily basis in this part of the country and making a winter prediction for months from now is very tricky. The weather pattern will change, but if we stay in the pattern that we have been locked in since the heavy rains of early June, it will be a very dry winter. Since those heavy rains, we are -5.64” below normal (a moderate drought) if you take out the two heavy rains from Gustav and Ike this month. Those storms were not part of the weather pattern we are in…they were abnormalities that fortunately affected our region or we would be extremely dry going into the dry months of fall and winter. It will be interesting to see how the pattern changes over the next few months, but we know it changes slightly this week with cooler weather. |
