Let's begin with the Packers. What has happened to the offensive blocking...Rodgers is getting crushed. Thank goodness he can scramble or he would be dead. In addition, our running game is useless since no one is blocking. When we do have a great play, there is a holding penalty...we lead the NFL with 15 holding penalties. It is ugly, and the O-line has been our strength for years. It is starting to remind me of the 80s with our great offense but no blocking so we struggled.
Thew Packers defense sucks...simply sucks. Everyone was saying how great they were going to be..I have not seen it at all (not even in preseason) and it is what I thought it would be like. We could not rush the quarterback last season and we did nothing but get rid of talent...now there is no pass rush and quarterbacks have all day to pick the secondary apart. The tackling still sucks as well and we give up more big plays than any other team...just like last season. It is not pretty.
However, what about Rodgers. The guy was in agonizing pain on Sunday with every throw and he still threw for 3 touchdowns and over 300 yards...the touchdown passes were beautiful as he zipped the ball between defenders...I am more and more impressed each week. He is getting crushed almost every play but hangs in there and keeps creating some excitement.
I love this team and they are better than the 3 game losing skid they are on, but they a few injuries and they have to start getting back to the basics in order to succeed.
My last beef is with the Brewers. First about playoff tickets. Season ticket holders like myself and my aunt (she has been for years when no one went to games) were not given a fair shake for tickets. Our seats were assigned to us and they moved us...they were still good, but not as good as we enjoy all season. Meanwhile, I know a handful of people who went to one game this season and got in the lottery and got better tickets than we did...much better. How does that happen? We were not even given the option to improve our seats and my aunt wanted to...strange.
Finally, when the last out occurred at Sundays game, there was a second of silence and sadness by the fans, but then the stadium erupted with a standing ovation for the team that lasted 5 minutes. It was classy...the fans were thanking the team for a wonderful season. Not one player steppe DOT of the dug out to tip his hat or wave to the crowd. They all walked with their heads down into the locker room. I understand they are disappointed, but so are we as fans and I was in that stadium more than 20 times this season. Three million fans packed Miller Park to cheer them on and pay their salaries...and they could not thank us.
It gets better. About 2 thousand fans crowded around the dugout waiting for the players to come out and say hi, sign autographs and give away jerseys and bats. They do this at the last game every year....not this year. My aunt wanted to wait so we stayed for almost 45 minutes. The crowd chanted for them and waited..and waited..Nothing. Finally security announced the players were not coming out. What? That is so not cool. A lot of kids were very disappointed. I could care less, but I thought it was tasteless. They did it during all the terrible seasons, but now nothing...not even for a second. Pathetic. I lost a lot of respect for the organization and we left to go to our car. I learned today that some fans stayed even after security made the announcement and eventually the police started shouting and moving them out of the stadium like cattle. Terrible! That is a great way to show your appreciation to the fans that have supported this team during all the bad years.
When I am out at festivals I am constantly talking with people...I love meeting our viewers and I am afraid to miss someone for that same reason. It is always about first impressions and my impression on the Brewers is a bit tarnished right now.
