Welcome Back Gotter

Welcome Back, Gotter

Weekend

Brian Gotter

We had a busy, but fun weekend.

First, it was a mixed weekend in sports.  The Badgers fell asleep in the second half and let the Wolverines come back to win 27-25.  Badgers tied it with time running out but had a penalty...that was a crazy game.

My Oklahoma Sooners are now #1 in the nation after winning on Saturday!  In fact, who ever said the Big 12 is weak knows nothing about football.  Six of the 12 teams are in the top 25.  Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas are in the top 5.  The biggest game of the season is just 12 days away...Oklahoma and Texas is one of the biggest games every season and an intense (hated) rivalry, this season it is almost like a National Championship Game...Go Sooners!!!

The Packers have issues and it is not Rodgers.  What has happened to our offensive and defensive lines.  On offense, we can't block and Rodgers is running for his life.  He is getting crushed.  Did you see that hit he took while throwing his third interception?  His neck snapped back and forth and I am shocked he got up.  I have no idea what the issue is, but they are not blocking.  Now Rodgers is hurt.  How about that touchdown pass he threw like a laser with a bad shoulder...guy is good.

Ryan Grant looks terrible...well worth the money he held out for.  He is not getting help with the lack of blocking, but he looks bad...that usually happens after a holdout and a big contract.  When will teams learn?

The defensive line has no pass rush...like usual.  Quarterbacks have all day back there to pick apart our secondary.  I have a question:  does our defense have grease on their jerseys?  They let so many guys slip out of their tackles...it was ugly.  Thank goodness for Woodson who is keeping us in these games...and he has a broken toe.  I am not panicked yet, but it does not look good, especially if Rodgers is hurt...and it is not because he is fragile...he is getting killed back there.

Beyond sports, Tina was at the Race for the Cure all day Saturday setting up and decorating the Survivor Tent and all the tables.  Some volunteers were there 12 hours.  She got home at 7pm and we had our first week of couples bowling league at the Grafton Bowl.  My aunt Bonnie and uncle Steve bowl with us.  It was so much fun.  We laughed, drank and had a great time and met a lot of wonderful people.  Tina has never bowled in a league before and she just got her new bowling ball this weekend...she just needs to get it drilled.  I had a 187, 184, 181.  All of those games should have been well over 200 but I missed the 10 pin twice each game for spares.  All those 10 pins were solid strikes...I was robbed.  I just need to practice that shot to pick up the spare.  I love bowling.  I am also joining a Monday night men's league in Grafton with the owner of the bowling alley.

We bowled late this week and were there until midnight.  Poor Tina had to get up at 4am to head back downtown for the Race for the Cure.  Me, Ali, Bonnie and Steve got down there by 8 and helped out at the Survivor Tent.  Ali had a blast running around and singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" on the microphone.    We stayed until about 1pm to clean and break everything down and then it was home to watch all the games and eat pizza.

It was a busy weekend...we were in bed very early last night.
