We finally did it, we took Ali out of her crib...kind of.  We were being selfish.  We like that she was in her crib and could not get out, besides she loves her crib.  But she will be 3 in July and it was time.  After Ali woke up yesterday we took off the front part of the crib and it is now a daybed.  We are taking baby steps.  We are planning on buying her a double mattress this week and converted the daybed to a double bed, but we wanted to see how she would like the openness.  She did great.

She wanted to take a nap in it before we went to the baseball game.  She did take a while to go to sleep and I caught her out of her bed walking around her room in the dark a few times.  She was free at last!  When I walked in she looked guilty, like she had both hands in a candy jar.  She jumped back into bed and said sorry. 

She did roll out just before we went to wake her up.  Tina was downstairs and heard the thump, but the mattress is just above the ground, it was not a long drop and she survived.  She talked about her bed all afternoon.  She went right into it when we got home from the game and slept great.  She could not wait to get back into it for bed and went right to sleep.  She never got out and still called for me this morning when she woke up.  She looked all cute in her bed.  We have told her that she will get a bigger bed if she does great with her daybed.  "Daddy, I love my daybed and I stay in here all night..I get my big bed now right?"  We were very nervous that she would be wondering the house all night and be pulling at us at 3am...it has only been one night, but so far so good.  Now that I have jinxed ourselves, it will be a long few nights.  We are also concerned because she can unlock the deadbolt and open the front door.  We will have to figure something out there so she won't be walking outside in the middle of the night.

I can't wait for the bigger bed so I can lay there and read stories..I may fall asleep with her.  She is growing up way too fast, but man is she fun!
