Welcome Back Gotter

Welcome Back, Gotter

Bad Brewers!

Brian Gotter

I love my Milwaukee Brewers and they are a fun team to watch, but I do have a few things to get off my chest.

I went to the game last night with my aunt Bonnie as usual.  It was our 3rd game and I am now 2-1 on the season after Derrick Turnbow, aka Turnblow, blew another game for us.  Item #1:  The Brewers need to cut Turnbow immediately.  He is not even worth trading (who would want him?)...send him packing because he throws the ball like they are in batting practice.  Last night it was back to back doubles in the 9th inning to lose the game.  The moment he came out of the bullpen the stadium groaned and he did not disappoint.  What a joke.  Get rid of him now!

Item #2:  My aunt has had season tickets for years.  She went to games religiously when there were only 5,000 people in the stands.  Last year we had the same seats every game except for two marquee games.  For those games we were moved down one section.  It was annoying but somewhat understandable.  In the three games we have attended this year we have not only had different seats, they have been in different sections.  At least they are still on the first base side, but we keep moving further away from the plate.  Not a big deal, but annoying.  It seems like now that they are winning, they are not taking care of their loyal fans..it is all about making money.

Item #3:  This is a continuation of #2.  Opening day is a Wisconsin tradition, but with winning, comes more changes.  Up to 2 years ago, season ticket holders could buy as many Opening Day tickets that they needed.  It did not matter if you had 1 season ticket or 20, you could by as many as you wanted.  My aunt usually bought 10 extra to take friends.  Last year the Brewers limited the number of tickets to 2.  Not two per season ticket, just 2.  This year it was even worse...NO EXTRA TICKETS for season ticket holders.  Way to thank your loyal fans who supported you through all those tough years.  Way to turn your back on them and allow the bandwagon fan get what they want.

Item #4:  Finally, Open the ROOF!  This was a beef I had last season as well.  The Brewers are making us soft.  The roof is always closed unless it is perfect out and last night was close to perfect.  While doing the 4pm newscast yesterday I showed the stadium from the Marquette Towercam and the roof was open.  I was so excited and said I was going to the game and could not wait to get their with the roof open.  It was 55 at the lake but 66 at the stadium and the Brewers have this ridiculous policy that the temperature must be at least 61.  During the newscast the roof started to shut.  I was very disappointed and mentioned it on the air.  We sit in snow storms and -25 wind chill at Lambeau, but if it is 60 in Milwaukee, the roof is closed.  Very sad!!!!!!  Now I can see if the wind was howling off the lake, but the wind was light, the sky was clear and the temperature by the end of the game was 57...that is perfect baseball weather.  What more do you want?  How about close the roof later in the game to at least have that excitement for the fans?  Come on Brewers...play baseball outside,  And get rid of Turnbow today...maybe he could operate the roof.
