I heard the greatest sports stat today.

The Yankee's as usual have the highest team payroll at $209 million.  Wow!  The Florida Marlins are starting over this season and have a young team and a payroll of just $21.8 million.  That is it.  Alex Rodriguez of the Yanks will make $28 million.  Jason Giambi, also of the Yanks will make $23 million.  Derek Jeter will make $21.3 million..almost what the entire Marlin's team will make.  Unbelievable.

What is more unbelievable is that the average salary for baseball players surpassed $3 million this year for the first time ever.  The average.  Not one Marlin is making the average.  My how times have changed.  In the mid 90s Ryan Sandburg of the Cubs was the highest paid player at $7 million...that is a huge change in less than 15 years.

So the Marlins keep dismantling their team, but they have 2 World Series titles in the past 11 seasons...obviously their plan works.
