Jay Olstad

Jay Olstad joined TODAY’S TMJ4 in July of 2007. Jay comes to Milwaukee from Titletown, Wisconsin. He was a general assignment reporter at the FOX affiliate WLUK in Green Bay for about four years. Before that, he worked for a little more than a year in Billings, Montana at KTVQ, a CBS affiliate.

Jay started out his broadcast journalism career in college at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, as a reporter/anchor at WAXX/WAYY radio. He eventually graduated with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.

Jay has won several awards for his work as a general assignment reporter, including an Edward R. Murrow Award for his part in continuing coverage of a teacher strike in Montana.

And even though he’s spent much of his journalism career in Wisconsin, he is a Minnesota boy deep down. Jay grew up in Mound, Minnesota on beautiful Lake Minnetonka just west of Minneapolis.

When he’s not chasing down a story, Jay loves to spend time with his family, friends, and his beautiful wife. He is the youngest in his family with three older sisters. Not to mention, he has a nephew and three nieces he adores. Jay considers his parents to be his all-time heroes. If you can’t find him spending time with them, check the golf course or along the lakeshore.

Jay is thrilled to call Milwaukee home. If you have any story ideas, be sure to email him at jolstad@todaystmj4.com
