Originally from Philadelphia, Jonah Kaplan loves the culture, character and pride of Milwaukee.
Jonah joins TODAY'S TMJ4 and the "Live at Daybreak" team after an action-packed stop at KSPR-TV in Springfield, MO. In just three years, Jonah filled nearly every newsroom role, from anchor to reporter to forecaster.
Perhaps his most memorable assignment, however, took place on May 22, 2011. Jonah was among the first reporters to arrive in Joplin, MO after an EF-5 tornado struck town and killed 161 people. Jonah, in fact, has covered several severe weather events and earned critical acclaim for his efforts -- but he'll tell you the most rewarding experience was to meet with survivors and still call them friends.
Prior to KSPR, Jonah’s professional journey includes positions in news and sports, including ESPN and the Boston Bruins.
Outside the newsroom, you can find Jonah playing ice hockey or teaching Jewish music at area synagogues. Jonah also enjoys running with his puggle, listening to the Dave Matthews Band, and exchanging movie lines with his brother, Rafe, a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces.
Jonah graduated with honors from Boston University’s College of Communication in 2008.
